We all know certain people who light up any room they enter.
At the same time, we all know people who have the exact opposite effect.
Let's call these two types of people Radiators and Drains.
The Radiators emit warmth and help you feel safe, energised and secure. They encourage kindness, positivity and promote a proactive attitude. Radiators empower you and often lift you to a place beyond your natural reach.
Drains, on the other hand, share their troubles and double them. They focus on the negative and suck all the energy out of a situation. They are the type of people who will expend more energy on complaining about a problem than it would take to quietly sort it out. Mood hoovers.
What Can You Do?
Wherever possible make it your active choice to associate with Radiators. Engage and share their energy.
When you do not have a have a choice and Drains surround you, take care not to be drawn down with them. Keep engagement to a minimum.
It's easy to label other people but how would you label yourself?
Do you make a conscious effort to warm the company you keep? To lift them up, compliment them and praise their efforts. Or are you unwittingly draining the life out of them by sharing your problems?

It's easy to drift into that negative moaning pattern at times. We all do it!
Listen to your own patterns of speaking to other people. Who do you give to and who do you take from?
